Tiernan & Patrylo, Inc. chosen by TDK to renovate an explosion-proof room and testing laboratory to prepare for the installation of additional electro plating lines. Work consisted of structural engineering, shoring the existing roof trusses, demolishing an explosion proof wall and laboratory interior, fabricating and erecting a new structural steel load-bearing structure, constructing reinforced concrete trench and pit network as well as interior finishes.
Prior to performing the project, T&P renovated a 1,100 sf storage area and relocated the testing laboratory to this new area. Concrete containment curbs and trenches were constructed as well as installing new doors and windows in a block wall. The finishing work consisted of painting the interior structure as well as finishing the floor with epoxy coating.
